This website is dedicated to Andrew McNicoll, 1968-2012.
Andrew was a much loved partner, son, brother,  brother-in-law, stepson, uncle and friend.
He will be missed by so many people.
Ian (his dad) and Lynne (his stepmum) want to honour his memory by raising funds  for, and creating a campaign, for safer cycling in Edinburgh.
We may never know exactly what happened on Thursday morning 5 January 2012 when he cycled to work as he often did – down the Lanark Road from Balerno.
What we believe is that the stretch of road he died on has a speed limit of 40mph and we think that is too fast.
We also think that changes need to be made to parking at the side of a road when there is a traffic island.
Andrew was a really good cyclist – wore proper gear at all times, checked his lights, loved his bikes and kept them in top condition.  He was a member of the Edinburgh Road Club.

If the ‘powers that be’ want us to be healthier, fitter and more environmentally conscious (using cars in city centres less) then it must be backed up with the ‘tools’ to do that.
Cycling  offers that opportunity but we also need road conditions that are suitable and for all abilities.

We ask for your help to fundraise, and to  join our campaign.
If you’d like to help us in any way please do get in touch.
